Ukraine’s confidential wish list of German weapons revealed
According to Bild, the list is divided into three main categories: air defense systems, armored vehicles, and electronic warfare equipment. The weapons requested are valued in the billions of euros, though it remains unclear whether Germany will fulfill the demands.
Unnamed military and industry sources allegedly confirmed the existence of the list, though Germany’s Defense Ministry declined to comment.
Among the items reportedly requested are 1,500 medium-range and 500 short-range missiles for various versions of the German-made Iris-T air defense system. Ukraine is also said to be asking for 1,200 mine-protected tracked vehicles, 200 off-road vehicles, 1,000 GPS jammers, and 200 mobile surveillance radars.
Bild also previously reported that Ukrainian officials had urged Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government to negotiate a deal with Washington. Under this arrangement, Germany would purchase two US-made Patriot missile systems to transfer them to Ukraine. German government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius confirmed that serious talks on such a deal were underway.
In May, Germany pledged €5 billion ($5.6 billion) to help Ukraine produce long-range weapons. The Kremlin has condemned this move, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov accusing Germany of provoking further conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov added that Germany’s involvement in the war is becoming “undeniable” and warned that Berlin is repeating historic mistakes.
Moscow has repeatedly denounced Western arms shipments to Ukraine, saying they prolong the war and hinder prospects for peace.
