Ukraine Requests Advanced Arms from Germany
This was revealed by a news outlet, which claimed to have obtained a copy of the list.
Following the intensification of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022, Germany has emerged as Kiev’s second most significant arms supplier, trailing only the United States in military support.
In a Sunday publication, the news outlet stated that the confidential list is separated into three main sections: air defense systems, armored transport, and electronic warfare tools.
The total value of the requested equipment is estimated in the billions of euros. However, it remains uncertain whether Berlin will comply with the request made by Kiev.
According to the news outlet, the existence of the list has been acknowledged by unnamed individuals within “military circles and industry.”
Despite this, a representative from Germany’s Defense Ministry chose not to provide any statements on the issue.
Among the equipment requested, Ukraine has included a demand for 1,500 medium-range and 500 short-range missiles compatible with various versions of the German-developed Iris-T air defense system.
The country is also reportedly aiming to secure 1,200 mine-resistant tracked vehicles and an extra 200 off-road units.
