Trump Says Cost of Patriot Missiles So Expensive
Trump has consistently criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, for approving unlimited military aid to Ukraine, particularly in terms of weaponry deliveries.
When asked by a reporter on Wednesday whether he was considering sending another Patriot unit to Ukraine, Trump responded by highlighting that the air defense system is “very rare… [and] very expensive.”
He further commented, “We’re gonna have to take a look” at Ukraine's request, acknowledging the high financial burden, adding, “it’s a shame that we have to spend so much money” on supporting Kiev.
On the same day, a news outlet reported that a spokesperson for Raytheon, the US arms manufacturer responsible for producing the Patriot missiles, revealed plans to increase the production of PAC2 GEM-T rockets by 150% by 2028 in response to “unprecedented demand.”
