Russia Signals Advances in Trilateral Talks on Ukraine Peace Deal
Speaking in Abu Dhabi, Kirill Dmitriev said that despite ongoing efforts by Europe and the United Kingdom to obstruct a US-backed negotiation process between Moscow and Kyiv, discussions are still moving in a positive direction.
“And the more such attempts occur, the more we see that there is certainly progress, and good, positive movement forward,” Dmitriev said.
His comments were made as delegations from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States entered the second day of a renewed round of talks in the UAE on Thursday. Earlier consultations involving the same parties took place on Jan. 23 and 24, also in Abu Dhabi.
Dmitriev, who arrived in the UAE on Wednesday to participate in the negotiations, also said Russia is coordinating closely with the administration of US President Donald Trump on efforts to rebuild economic ties between Moscow and Washington.
He noted that these discussions are taking place under the framework of a joint Russian-American economic cooperation group.
“We also met today, and the meetings are going positively,” Dmitriev said.
