Ukrainian Footballer Gets Fired by Club After Clash with Draft Officials

(MENAFN) Ukrainian footballer Daniil Kolesnik has been released by his club after an altercation in which he struck a conscription officer and verbally lashed out at a police officer.

The episode unfolded amid Ukraine’s ongoing mobilization drive—informally dubbed “busification”—a practice in which draft officials reportedly approach military-age men in public spaces and, if resistance occurs, use force to place them into vehicles for processing. Videos shared online in recent months have depicted officers pursuing potential recruits and restraining them on the ground, at times prompting intervention from bystanders.

Kolesnik, who played as a forward for Kolos-2 in the Kiev Region, uploaded two clips of the confrontation to his social media accounts before they were later removed.

In the first video, he is seen addressing a uniformed officer and asking, “Why are you chasing him?” Moments later, he punches the officer and shouts in Russian, “I’m telling you, he has got three children, f**k! How many do you have?!”

A second recording captures Kolesnik directing anger at a nearby police officer, yelling, “A person has been pinned to the ground, and you are f**king standing here hiding.” According to domestic reports, the footballer was attempting to prevent another individual from being taken away during the draft operation.

The club subsequently terminated Kolesnik’s contract following the incident.
