Zelenskyy Warns of Possible Russian Attack on Ukraine’s Water Systems

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of planning an operation targeting the country’s water supply systems, according to official statements.

After holding a meeting reviewing regions that have already experienced Russian strikes, Zelenskyy emphasized on Telegram that regional authorities must take the protection of critical facilities very seriously.

"We also know that the Russians are preparing an operation against water supply systems in the coming months. In every community, there must be a serious attitude, an absolutely responsible attitude toward the protection of the relevant facilities," he said.

In a separate announcement, Zelenskyy addressed international negotiations, indicating that the United States would offer security guarantees to Ukraine only if Kyiv agrees to withdraw its forces from the Donbas region.

"The Americans are ready to finally finalize these guarantees at a high level as soon as Ukraine is ready to withdraw its troops from Donbas," said Zelenskyy.
