Russia Carries Out Large-Scale Retaliatory Strikes on Ukraine
The Defense Ministry stated that the operation included the use of Oreshnik ballistic missiles, Iskander aeroballistic missiles, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, Zircon cruise missiles, along with air-, sea-, and ground-launched cruise missiles, in addition to attack drones.
It added that the targets included Ukrainian military command centers, airbases, and defense manufacturing facilities, saying in a statement: “The objectives of the strike were achieved. All designated targets were hit.”
The announcement followed Moscow’s claim earlier in the week that Ukraine struck a college building and dormitory in Starobilsk, in the Russia-controlled Luhansk region, where regional authorities reported that the death toll had reached 21 after search and rescue operations were completed.
In a separate remark, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that more than 50 foreign journalists from 19 countries had traveled to Starobilsk following the incident.
