Ukraine’s AI Drones Transform Warfare

(MENAFN) Ukraine is increasingly deploying artificial intelligence-driven drones to hit Russian military assets far beyond the immediate battlefield, a development analysts describe as a "major evolution in battlefield tactics."

Recent strikes have focused on supply convoys and logistical routes connecting Russia with occupied territories in southern Ukraine, including Crimea, according to experts cited by BBC.

These AI-powered Hornet drones are capable of autonomously identifying and tracking targets once launched into a designated zone. Nick Brown, a weapons specialist at Janes, explained that the system has been trained using thousands of hours of video footage of Russian military hardware gathered during the conflict. He noted, "Ukraine can launch hundreds of these loitering munitions towards a rough target area over 100 miles away and then use AI to direct them onto Russian military targets as they find them."

Analysts argue that this technology enables Ukraine to strike Russian logistics with improved range and precision, while also making the drones more resilient against electronic interference.

George Barros of the Institute for the Study of War emphasized that Ukraine’s innovative use of technology shows the conflict is "not a stalemate." He added that the country’s expanding drone capabilities are forcing Russian logistical and support networks to move farther from the front lines.
