Kremlin Warns Ukraine Will Face Consequences for Strikes on Russia
Speaking at a news briefing in Moscow, Peskov referred to previous warnings from Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the potential repercussions of attacks against Russia.
“This is also something the president has spoken about -- Ukraine will have to pay a price for the actions that have taken place in recent months,” he said, adding: "Our armed forces continue the special military operation and consistently strike targets they consider appropriate.”
Peskov said Russia considers protecting its security among its key national interests. He argued that Moscow needs to prevent what he described as plans announced in Kyiv to carry out a “crushing strike” against Russia.
The Kremlin spokesman was also asked about the status of arms control discussions between Russia and the US. He said Moscow believes the negotiations should restart without further delay.
“Arms control negotiations need to be resumed, as they say, yesterday, because the treaty and legal framework in this area is now completely bare,” he stressed.
